I literally got a new story idea for a young adult dystopian story two days ago. It just popped into head seemingly out of nowhere and I think I have a good skeleton structure for it 🙂
The main character is sixteen-year-old Saoirse, she resides in a country that for the last three generations have been in a state of war with its southern neighbour. The story follows her life in a dystopian military state where if you want to gain citizenship you have to follow their rules. For women, it’s ten years civil/military service or four children. For men, it’s twenty years military service for able-bodied individuals or equivalent civil service for those deemed not capable of fighting.
Saoirse’s story is about her coming to understand the world she lives in at large and how she might survive it, if possible.
