Anthology Cover Update
I’ve updated my anthology and gave it a new cover. I’d been meaning to do it for a while but just haven’t had the motivation. Then the other day I started experimenting with images and started the create something I liked.
Getting the free trial of Canva was worth it and I’m going to buy a yearly subscription.
A productive day
Had a supremely productive day today. I created two new ebook covers and went through my works with Grammarly. I feel like with each new cover creation I get better at design. Plus a Canva subscription helps 🙂
I’m hoping in the next few months I’ll get my writing mojo back and maybe finish at least one story I’ve got going on.
The year is almost over and I’m hoping the next one will be better than the last. It’s been six months since returning to the UK and it’s been stressful. I think half my thoughts are fantasies of a life back in Australia and the other half are negative. I’m planning on returning to the gym and hopefully I’ll lose both physical and mental weight. Unless I get Covid. So far I’ve yet to catch it, but tomorrow is a new day.
In terms of my writing and editing, I’ve gone dormant. I probably won’t being releasing anything for at least six months. I’m still coming up with ideas every few months, but not really feeling the mood to do much with them 😦
Frosty nights and sickly days
The last four weeks have been shit for me and my husband. We’ve got some sickness, not Covid, and it’s not getting better. I’ve been coughing like a plague victim on and off for a month and I keep thinking that I’m going to get better in a few days, but time keeps passing and I stay the same. Now I’m thinking that I might not be healthy until December 😦
The nights also come too early. It’s dark by 4.30 and the air already has a chill in the air. I keep hearing about an arctic chill that is supposed to be coming to Edinburgh, but it never does. I’m dreading it when it finally arrives. I keep thinking of a time a few years ago when snow fell down and covered everything and the buses were down for two/three days. I’m starting to think that I might not be able to head back to the gym to lose those kilos until January 😦
From the Mountain Results
From the Mountain is no longer free. In the month that it was, I sold nine copies, less than the 14 for The Witch Room. I think maybe that was because of its cover. The Witch Room had a better cover than From the Mountain.
Two weeks left of Free Short Story
From the Mountain has been free since the end of September. There are still two weeks left before the promotion ends. So far I’ve been selling a copy every few days 🙂
New Free Short Story
I have another short story available on Smashwords. It’s on sale for the next month, ending on October 26. So go get it and give me a review 😛
From the Mountain is sci-fi YA and revolves around a quarantine, this was pre-covid btw. The story is 6.5k words and can be read in a hour or two. Here is the synopsis:
Having been quarantined since the age of thirteen after the death of her family and many others, Serrah lives as a carrier of a deadly alien born virus. Those responsible have not been found and tensions in the region have led to war. The skies have been quiet since the arrival of the spaceship that carried the contagion. Left mostly to her own devices Serrah scans the skies hoping that something happens to shed some light on what she went. She might just get what she wants.
Results and what next …
The month long free promo is over and the results are in. Fourteen copies of The Witch Room were downloaded and I’m happy with the results. Below is a picture of the Smashwords daily sales graph.
Because I liked how things went, I’ve decided to put another short story of mine up for free download. I published From the Mountain in ’17 and I hadn’t touched it until recently. But with the improvements I made with The Witch Room, I see the need to continue improving all my stories.
Free Short Story
It’s just been over a week since The Witch Room went on sale and it’s sold 6 copies 🙂 The free sale is still ongoing and ends on September 24th.
