I went to a cafe and managed to edit a chapter of Calico before my brain turned itself off, but I was able to do the same amount at home later that afternoon. Another thing of note was that I wore a new dress with pompoms on it and they’ve been falling off 😦 I’ve been leaving a trail of fluff where ever I go 😦 I don’t know where a third of them have gone, but I’ve been collecting them whenever I see them.

Day 23-24 of writing
Didn’t do anything the day before, but today I edited the first chapter or five pages of Beyond Calico 85. I’ve only written about 15,000 words of this novella and I need to get it done soon. The last time I touched it was mid-March. It’s a sci-fi mystery, however, I’m not too sure whereabouts I’m going with the story. I think I have the last scene in my head, but I’m not sure. This mystery story is a mystery to me as well 😛
General update for my other books
I’ve gone and gotten shiny new idea syndrome and have begun a new book, but what about my other ones?
Save One is mostly completed. Need a few more light drafts and it should be ready. I’ve just grown tired of it atm so I’m giving it some space.
The Things We Do has been submitted to Tor.com as part of a sci-fi novella submission. Practically ready for release, but will have to wait to see if accepted by these guys.
Jumpstart is also mostly done. I’m also fatigued by it and have started and stalled on the sequel Tune In. I want that story done before thinking of releasing this as part of the marketing strategy for the series.
Beyond Calico has stalled. The first draft is not completed, but I have a rough outline of the story and need to write it up sometime.
The Chloris and the Electra has not been touched in over six months and I’m not sure when I’ll go back to it. I enjoyed writing what I have and will finish it. But I think it’s only 60% through the first draft. I think I have an idea of how it ends, but that’s flexible.
Overall I intend for the book I’m writing now to be done by the end of June. Then I might move onto another of the others I haven’t finished and try to maximise my time. I’m still heading towards my goal of 10 self-published stories by my 30th birthday, so I’m not slowing down. I’m hoping to have some stories out by the end of the year so I have that to look forward to.
Calico has an ending
I think I have the ending of this story down. I started writing the story last year when I went back to Australia for a bit. Since then it had stalled because while I had a decent beginning I didn’t know how this story ended and that meant I couldn’t write the journey after a certain point.
But today I made myself work out what was going on and how it was going to be revealed. So far I’ve got 14,000 words written and I’m certain it will be a novella. I think I’m either halfway or a third through it. Hopefully I’ll have it done by the end of the year (if I manage my other projects right).
Calico rehash edit
My god, this rehash edit of Calico took forever. I had to do so much for it. But I didn’t feel that my writing quality was poor 🙂 In fact, I think that it shows me how far I’ve come. I thought what I had written was pretty decent actually.
If you want to know what I call a rehash edit is, it’s a term I’ve come up with to describe going over an old story that I’ve mostly forgotten about. I just can’t help but edit as I try to get back into the groove. This is chapters 2-5 🙂 The text after that is dot points in what I think I should add to the story.
