From the Mountain is no longer free. In the month that it was, I sold nine copies, less than the 14 for The Witch Room. I think maybe that was because of its cover. The Witch Room had a better cover than From the Mountain.
From the Mountain has been free since the end of September. There are still two weeks left before the promotion ends. So far I’ve been selling a copy every few days 🙂
I have another short story available on Smashwords. It’s on sale for the next month, ending on October 26. So go get it and give me a review 😛
From the Mountain is sci-fi YA and revolves around a quarantine, this was pre-covid btw. The story is 6.5k words and can be read in a hour or two. Here is the synopsis:
Having been quarantined since the age of thirteen after the death of her family and many others, Serrah lives as a carrier of a deadly alien born virus. Those responsible have not been found and tensions in the region have led to war. The skies have been quiet since the arrival of the spaceship that carried the contagion. Left mostly to her own devices Serrah scans the skies hoping that something happens to shed some light on what she went. She might just get what she wants.
The month long free promo is over and the results are in. Fourteen copies of The Witch Room were downloaded and I’m happy with the results. Below is a picture of the Smashwords daily sales graph.
Because I liked how things went, I’ve decided to put another short story of mine up for free download. I published From the Mountain in ’17 and I hadn’t touched it until recently. But with the improvements I made with The Witch Room, I see the need to continue improving all my stories.
It’s just been over a week since The Witch Room went on sale and it’s sold 6 copies 🙂 The free sale is still ongoing and ends on September 24th.
I went and made a coupon on Smashwords for make my short story free. The Witch’s Room is a medieval tale of two sisters who travel to a remote female community to resolve an unwanted pregnancy. While there they learn of the tale of its founder, a supposed witch called Evelyn and the room she created that may or may not grant power to a chosen one.
The short story is under 6,200 words. If you’re interested in this tale, please leave a review 🙂
The coupon code is: XK38T. It expires on July 10th.
I’m thinking that I should make the first book in my Tune series a loss leader. I only came across the term today, but I had the idea of making it free for a long time. But I had been flip-flopping on the idea. I mean, I want to make a steady income from my writing, but I need to create a fan base first. Making some of them free might be the way to go. I also need reviews. Those are like leprechaun gold.
At the moment I’m done to death with editing this novelette. It’s nearing completion and for a bonus, I’m going to be putting the first chapter of the next book at the end. I’ve got that completed, I just need to write the rest 🙂
If you are with KDP Select then The Witch’s Room is available to you for free 🙂
The story is set in an undisclosed medieval period and revolves around two sisters who have to travel to a witch’s coven to seek help when one of them falls pregnant. You can read the first chapter here.
If you liked what you read then please leave a review 🙂
The Witch’s Room is available on KDP Select. If you don’t have it, then it’ll cost you about 99 cents depending on where you live. This is my first time doing this and I want to see if it has any effect on my sales. I’ve read a bit about how some authors have increased sales once they use KDP Select so I’m going to try it as well.
I’m also doing a free promotion from March 22nd to the 26th. The KPD Select ends for this book on June 5 and on the 6th it’s going to be released on Smashwords.
