The traditional publishing industry is slow 😦 But seeing as I’ve come this far I wonder who my competition is. I’ve been in the queue at number 33 for the longest time. If I get rejected I’m going to keep tabs on who gets published to see if their story is better 🙂
I was planning on self-publishing The Things We Do sometime soon, but instead, I came across the Sci-fi Novella submission from Tor.com. I decided to give it a shot and send it in. I read somewhere on the site that it would take 6 months for a response, but when I sent it in, it listed the response time as just under a year!
Maybe I should have sent it in the moment the program opened. I found writing the cover letter a challenge, I hadn’t done that for years. But I did it 🙂
I sometimes think that maybe me jumping off the deep end and going after my dreams of being a writer has inspired others. Unless they tell me specifically then I don’t know, but the other day I got a little boost when a friends mentioned that they admired me for going the self-publishing route and putting my work out there. It really made me feel good about myself. So thank you Harry, that really made my day 🙂
