These last ten days have been lazy for me, though it never felt like it. I let The Dragon’s Mate rest for a few days and then did an entire edit in two days.
My editing comprised mostly line and grammar, not structural, but I’m thinking of changing the ending. I realised that as I wrote the synopsis, that I wasn’t satisfied with the end. So I’m going to re-write it, I think I know how I will do it too.
Well anyway, this is what I did towards my creative projects in the last 10 days.
My god, this rehash edit of Calico took forever. I had to do so much for it. But I didn’t feel that my writing quality was poor 🙂 In fact, I think that it shows me how far I’ve come. I thought what I had written was pretty decent actually.
If you want to know what I call a rehash edit is, it’s a term I’ve come up with to describe going over an old story that I’ve mostly forgotten about. I just can’t help but edit as I try to get back into the groove. This is chapters 2-5 🙂 The text after that is dot points in what I think I should add to the story.
I’m finding my editing to be tiresome and longer than I expected. It looks like I am going to be re-writing the entire thing and since my last post I have only reached chapter 4. The thought of this makes me cringe and on any given day I can only manage a small chunk. Last night though, I did about 2 or 3 pages and that was a stretch for me 😦
I have no idea how long this is going to take and all I want is it to be over. My goal of being finished by now is completely shattered. I feel burnt out, but I have to continue. I’ve already gotten this far and I wonder if I’ll feel this way for my other stories? Is this a natural part of writing? The only thing that is keeping me going is the thought of finishing and publishing this book.
