To write is to be free
I’ve managed to force myself to do another draft of this story. It’s so close to being done, I can almost feel it. The only edits I’m doing are a few word edits, a sprinkle every so often.
I’ve noticed a few mistakes like similar word spellings instead of the correct word or a word is out of order. But it’s nothing major. I have someone go over it and they didn’t notice them.
I’m going to make sure this thing is out by my birthday.
Didn’t do anything the day before, but today I edited the first chapter or five pages of Beyond Calico 85. I’ve only written about 15,000 words of this novella and I need to get it done soon. The last time I touched it was mid-March. It’s a sci-fi mystery, however, I’m not too sure whereabouts I’m going with the story. I think I have the last scene in my head, but I’m not sure. This mystery story is a mystery to me as well 😛
I’ve gotten back into editing 🙂 It’s been months and I had no idea when I’d get over my burn out. I think this story is almost done 🙂 I will be aiming to have it out by the end of the year at the lastest. But I want it out sooner.
I’m no longer doing big edits, just little ones like single words and the occasional sentence change. Maybe it’ll be complete in another few edits.
I don’t feel that bad that I didn’t get in, but at least I seemed to have made it quite far 🙂 That means it’s got something there. I’m going to self-publish it soon (I don’t know when). It mostly just needs another light edit and it’ll be ready 🙂
The traditional publishing industry is slow 😦 But seeing as I’ve come this far I wonder who my competition is. I’ve been in the queue at number 33 for the longest time. If I get rejected I’m going to keep tabs on who gets published to see if their story is better 🙂
I’ve gone and gotten shiny new idea syndrome and have begun a new book, but what about my other ones?
Save One is mostly completed. Need a few more light drafts and it should be ready. I’ve just grown tired of it atm so I’m giving it some space.
The Things We Do has been submitted to Tor.com as part of a sci-fi novella submission. Practically ready for release, but will have to wait to see if accepted by these guys.
Jumpstart is also mostly done. I’m also fatigued by it and have started and stalled on the sequel Tune In. I want that story done before thinking of releasing this as part of the marketing strategy for the series.
Beyond Calico has stalled. The first draft is not completed, but I have a rough outline of the story and need to write it up sometime.
The Chloris and the Electra has not been touched in over six months and I’m not sure when I’ll go back to it. I enjoyed writing what I have and will finish it. But I think it’s only 60% through the first draft. I think I have an idea of how it ends, but that’s flexible.
Overall I intend for the book I’m writing now to be done by the end of June. Then I might move onto another of the others I haven’t finished and try to maximise my time. I’m still heading towards my goal of 10 self-published stories by my 30th birthday, so I’m not slowing down. I’m hoping to have some stories out by the end of the year so I have that to look forward to.
When I submitted to Tor.com they sent me a link to check on the status of my book. The queue at the time was over a year long 😦 But every few days I checked it and saw that it was slowly moving up the line and now it is this much closer 🙂
